The Call

As the agents of the Pinker Detective Agency continued work in Turtle Island, a war was brewing that would engulf their careers. Three detectives receives notices while on assignment to ditch their missions and meet in the largest Fur Dwarf city to receives a "top priority" assignment. Tillo, Shao, and Sauc- a dark gnome, elf, and dark elf- met at a tavern in one of the northern counties of the Fur Dwarf nation to receive their new assignment. A new steward had been elected to the throne of the nation and credible sources claimed an assassination plot was underway. The three detectives left the tavern, taking the riverboat southwest and joined with the newly elected steward.

The steward was rumored to be attacked during a night speech along on his inaugoral tour to the capital. The plan was to send a dummy carriage to the city set to be the scene of the assassination while the steward, the three detectives, and the carriage driver rode through the night along back roads.

Sauc- being a cmopassionate wizard- made the steward feel safe along the ride by forging a bowl of hot soup along the journey. At night, the party was met by a band of vampires who ambushed the carriage and attacked the riders. Tillo, Sauc, and Shao fought one vampire who continuously formed and reformed from cloud to corporeal form. Meanwhile, the steward made use of an axe in the carriage against two other vampires. When the three detectives slew their vampire, they returned to find the steward slaying his second. The carriage driver did not survive.

At the capital, the steward made his inaugoral address with Tillo in attendance. Shao explored then local taverns and Sauc discovered a mysterious bookstore. Sauc purchased a book from a strange dwarf woman in a green dress which was written in an untranslated half-elf script.

Tillo used his downtime in the capital to learn a new song from his banjo and Shao enjoyed a moment of serenity with the cherry blossoms of the capital's town green. Unbeknownst to him, Shao was slowly succoming to the power of the Ancient Blade- a sword that cannot only speak to its wielder, but control him.

The party received praise from Pinker himself- the dwarf who runs the detective agency. He gave them a new, more dangerous assignment before leaving the party to their will.
