The three detectives- Tillo, Sauc, and Shao signed on with the Pony Express- an experimental message service connecting the expanding Fur Dwarf nation from one side of Turtle Island to the other. The party explored the fort where they rested the week prior, received mounts, stocked up on lemon drops, and headed east towards Ospetsua. Before long, the group realized they would need food of stronger energy than the lemon flavored hard candy they purchased at the fort.

The three detectives snuck up on a bison and began fighting the beast. Shao struck an early blow to the animal, but it fought hard. The bison dismounted Tillo from his mule deer mount and Sauc reminisced about better days when heating soup was his most difficult task for a quest. As the bison bolted away, Shao lassoed the beast from atop his horse, rode round the animal, hog-tied the bison, then slew it with the Ancient Blade. The party made camp for the night. Sauc and Tillo made a pissing contest of lighting bonfires. Shao and Tillo tanned hides from the beast, and Sauc ate the innards.

The party continued, but Tillo came down with a case of cholera. Sauc prayed to his medecine god for help. A rattlesnake appeared, showing Sauc a prickley pear cactus and the wizard set out to make a hot soup with the cactus nectar. Tillo was healthy by the time the party reached the next stop on their journey east.

The party moved swiftly on their mounts across the Vast Plains. The party hit a snag however, as Sauc in a tragic twist of events was bitten by a rattlesnake during a turkey hunt. As he began slipping from conciousness, Tillo prayed to his goddess of medicine to help. The goddess showed the dark gnome a bush from which they could heal the dark elf. After Sauc made a full recovery, the goddess showed Tillo the phantom hunters across the northern sky as a sign of good will.

When the party reached their next stop, news of nearby rebel dwarves promted the party to ditch their mounts and assume a river raft for the remainder of the journey. One night, Sauc awoke to the sight of a possessed Shao attacking with the Ancient Blade. Missing his first attack, Shao struck again, this time injuring his dark elf companion. Tillo awoke and broke Shao's spell. Shao spoke his sword attempting to channel the spirit inside- finding there were multiple personalities to the Ancient Blade including a half-demon girl.

Shao awoke to the sound of rustling in the woods to find a squadron of dwarf raiders creeping in. The pony-mounted dwarves charged from the treeline. Tillo awoke and attempted to confuse them with his banjo. Shao rushed to the raft to get the detective on the river where they would be out of range of the dwarves' crossbows. As the party scrambled to escape the raid, they were struck by rebel crossbow fire. Sauc used a spell to cause nearly half the raiders to fall asleep on their ponies while Shao thrust the raft into the river and rowed through the moonlit night.

The party finally arrived at Ospetsua to find a postman confussed at their arrival. The three had been declared dead on their journey and a local hungover general appeared in good spirits. He told the party he would have use for three agents with the ability to slip past rebel raiders and gave them a night to explore the city.

The party split in different directions. Tillo and Sauc explored the Red and Yellow Dwarf neighborhoods. Tillo played music with the local yellow dwarves while Sauc explored the more brass-horn playing red dwarves. A dwarf woman in a green dress spoke with Tillo about music. Tillo made a deal to hunt down one of her adversaries in exchange for becoming a master fiddle player. He walked away from the encounter with a green mark on his palm.

Shao located the a book written by the dwarves on the topic of the line of half-demons. (The half-demons are a line of girls embued with demonic powers for the purpose of slaying fiends. Anytime one of the half-demons dies, a new one is created someone win the world; keeping the line of half-demons alive.)

The party reconveined with the general the next morning and departed across the Father of Waters with a two-fold goal: train a rowdy bunch of volunteer infantry famous for cheating, stealing, fighting, and drinking; and locating the demon brother of the woman in green.
