Standard Bearers

Four volunteers joined up with the Jabalina Foreign Legion in the Summer of 3914. Strangers to each other, the four joined with nearly fifteen thousand other volunteers to begin a rigorous Summer of training for what would become the most intensely trained unit of the Jabalina military. Starting with physical training, the division trained in boxing, backpacking, tight-rope walking, and running to increase their athletics, perception, and acrobatics.

Next, the division training in melee and ranged combat weapons, charge attacks, and combination attacks with either the halberd or the crossbow. They then trained in mountaineering and wilderness survival. During the survival training, Recruits Shi'eh and Shun proved their abilities in feeding their team by hunting for food, finding shelter during bad weather, and pushing the group to summit the mountain on schedule.

When the recruits returned from wilderness survival training, they returned to weapons training in their side weapons and melee combat. The volunteers also learned how to fight with improvised weapons such as throwing stones and hammering their enemies with found objects.

During down time, many soldiers in the division spent their time getting to know each other, meditating privately, or harnessing their skills at stalking fellow volunteers.

During mount training, roughly half of all volunteers were able to break the wild horses and ponies assigned to them, giving them the ability to ride those mounts if found in the future.

After mount training, the Legion's training was complete. All of the recruits understood this meant they would soon be deployed to the most dangerous war zone in the realm- but none of them suspected how close that war zone would be. During the final days of training Mujikan soldiers crossed into Baso territory- the nation bordering Jabalina to the northeast. The act was recognized as an invasion of Western Zezen, putting Jabalina at war. The Legion would now be deployed to defend Jabalina's Eastern Border against the invading Mujikans.
